GERAS broaches the subject of structural variations in the long-term home care sector, related to demographic changes within the European Community, and it also analyses the possible implications of an innovative programme of qualification at European level, addressed to the people working in this field.
The participating partners have been chosen because of their social, educational, cultural and institutional differences. Each partner will bring into this project its own national experience and the type of training method in this sector, if existing, in its country. The most innovative aspect of GERAS is the creation of an integrated vocational training among all the partners. Furthermore, the project aims to elaborate a pioneering training programme, applicable at European level and to promote the European mobility for carers.
The first step is a comparative study of different partnership methodologies applied in the long-term home care to elderly people. The second step is the direct experimentation in every participating country. Planning, implementation and evaluation of all activities will be attained by mobility and meetings and a daily interaction through ICT and videoconferences. GERAS is expected to introduce new strategies of evaluation and valorisation and an English report.
